Chris Herrmann is one of 19 high school students from Cambridge who spent spring vacation last month volunteering in South Carolina as part of VOSCA, Volunteers to South Carolina. The local group, started by retired social studies teacher Bob Cheney, has been working with children and helping to fix houses in a poor, rural, primarily African-American community about 50 miles from Myrtle Beach since 1995.
